Last night, a bunch of the gang and I went ice block sledding, which is truly one of the most fun things one can do. After that, Dave, Julia and I went back to Dave's place and sat around playing Scrabble for a while. If you add to that, playing go, sailing, partying and sitting around, you've got a pretty solid picture of what I do these days. It's really quite pleasant all around. Of course, I do work on weekdays, but that's kind of nice too.
My younger brother, Dave, turned 18 yesterday. I'm not normally the sort to be taken by surprise by such things, but it's kind of bizarre to think that he's no longer a minor. At least Joe's still only 9, not that that'll last forever.
I have set up the StatTraq plugin for wordpress to handle gathering statistical information on my blog and have made it publicly viewable for anyone that cares. There is also a small "Statistics" link in the Meta section of my sidebar now. In order to get it working, I started with StatTraq 1.0b and hand applied the patches from adsworth. So yeah, statistics are up and you should feel free to take a look at them.
Obviously, the statistics are incomplete as they only begin tracking as of a day ago.
I woke up today, still in the funk that hit me last night but, since my morning shower, I've started to get over it a little bit. I'm going to be ok, just kind of pissed off for a while.
My truck's moonroof just exploded. I think that I will replace it with a piece of plexiglass.
Synchronicity had her first maritime difficulties today or, rather, I had my first difficulties with her today. She's fine and, other than bruised egos, Dave and I are fine as well. Tomorrow, hopefully, we'll do a better job.
I've been on the Cape almost a week at this point, began working yesterday and things have been mostly good. Unfortunately, the weather has been rather poor so I haven't been able to go sailing since last weekend and it won't get nice again until about Sunday. With luck, us folks here won't let a little bad weather get in the way of our Friday night BBQ plans. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and let you all know that I'm still alive. George out.
Incidentally, if any of you all want to come visit me on the Cape, chillax and maybe do a little sailing, drop me a line (phone, email, IM, whatever).
My good friend Dave G.-L. and I took my Hobie, Synchronicity, out for a good, long, 5 hour sail today. She's a beautiful boat; a little difficult to handle but great. She's now beached not 100 feet from my grandparents' place and ready for me to take out in the future.
I am now back in Woods Hole for yet another summer and, I have to say, it feels nice. Some of the old crowd is around and we'll have new folks too. And, as soon as this weather clears out, I'll get some sailing in.
I have appointed Toaddragon to the position of guardian spirit of my new vehicle.
